Hi,
Is there any one who works in government investigations, or works in the Government as an investigator? If so, (in addition to Certificate IV Government) can you recommend any certificate courses, seminars or programmes that could help towards working as an investigator in the supreme court, customs, fraud or foreign affairs?
I realise this is a broad request, but any suggestions you can offer will be appreciated.
Many thanks
Cheers

Private investigations and government investigations (as I do both) are rather different.. the government investigations I do (fraud) are criminal based, and private investigating usually isn't.

I have cert IVs in government (invesetigations) and also government (statutory compliance) - the second isn't so helpful but the first one is my bread and butter. A certificate IV in gov't (fraud control) also isn't a bad idea.

Welcome.

Gov investigation roles are hard to get, but they're great once you get one. I'd suggest trying to do a work placement with such an area, but I know at least in my unit, we don't take work experience/placements because of the sensitive nature of our work (and the protective security classification of much of our files being SECRET or above).

Since investigations is a career change for me I've decided that government work is what I want to do as I feel that it would be rewarding over time, above all its challenges.
I'm currently checking out government law, and investigation courses to study, that will help me along the way.
I will also look at  what work placement roles I can apply for - Thanks for the suggestion.
