Hi All

I'm a newbie living on the Sunshine Coast and looking for work
I have only just received my License this week so now  searching for a start
Can anyone give me some advice or a start somewhere.
I have a lot of experience in other areas just not investigations.
I have completed an OH&S rep course,  conflict & mediation training, and have an advance diploma in Disabilities and Community management.

Cheers
Minx

Hello Minx

Suggest you ring medium and large companies.  Not a good idea to email or text.    Also suggest not to contact Sole Operators (like me) as they usually only have enough work for themselves and do not employ.  I am sure you are a polite person, however, even if you get a rejection (or two) accept them gracefully, because your responses may be noted for future reference if an abundance of work comes in.  Always answer your mobile (it may be a job).  The reason I say that to you, is because if a company receives a job and all agents are out working, they may ring you to see if you are interested and be willing to try you out and that could be your big breakthrough.  If you do not answer your mobile, they WILL ring the next available person, however, I am not sure if that also applies to Factual work.

If you keep the above momentum up, you will eventually find work.

Also, have you been networking with other PIs and doing your research on what companies are currently hiring, because it seems G4S is currently hiring and may be a good place to start?   Someone also told me that Centrelink is a good area to try (Fraud), however, I don't know what is required to get a foot in the door there.

Finally, for a couple of reasons, I strongly suggest you delete the word 'desperate' from your post.

Good luck.

Well summarised Lesley. Also agree re desperate - use keen instead. Not sure about Centrelink as my understanding is they use accredited established investigation firms and have a Tender process etc.

Thank's Guys
I Have taken note of your advise with the wording. Looking at all the people on here and ones that have no replies its kind of disheartening,
The move to Qld Is great, just not to sure about the work available up here.
I have heard that you need more training to work with govie departments like centre link

anyway  thanx again for replying  will keep in touch

I have a very experienced agent (ex police detective sgt) based in Buderim area and he is on list with a few big firms in Qld and gets a job every few weeks, so not much need for his services doing factuals in that patch. He has to have a charge out point in north bris somewhere. Lucky for him he is on pension so doesn't really need the work, but that might be a guide for you. Good luck.

Thanxs Homer

I was told that there are a lot of PI's in Qld everyone must migrate for the weather.
I can go back to Melbourne for work, but just really don't want too I'v acclimatized to this weather already.

I have sent a few resume's out, so its all a matter of wait and see what happens

In the last 3 years I have been swamped with resumes from qld agents using this site, looking for some work. I figure there must be oversupply of agents in qld. all the best

Not sure about Centrelink as my understanding is they use accredited established investigation firms and have a Tender process etc.  Someone also said that Centrelink actually expect a paid fee of $500 to become a Tender, but I have not checked that out.

Going back to Minx; yes, it is swamped up here.  Really don't want to dampen your enthusiasm though.   I personally am doing moderately well, however, have given up a lot to get into that position and worked many, many weeks for ten days straight while the work was there.  I could not afford (I don't mean money) to miss any chances, so took everything that was offered to me.

Centrelink only sub-contract out optical surveillance work to a panel. The factual side of things is done by in-house investigators.

Thanks for the insight Agent Shadow.  I guess it all boils down to the fact you cannot believe everything you hear.  I know you would be sure about your facts, whereas the person who told me, obviously wasn't.
