All I lost was a single light fixture.

Ironically, it's the economic fall-out that is going to hurt more. Not a single billable hour today - and a lot of the bread and butter type work is on hold (serving docs or repossessions just aren't a good look right after a natural disaster).

Will be contacting all the insurance companies tomorrow as there will hopefully be more claims investigation type work than the usual investigators can cope with.

Fingers crossed - otherwise I'll probably just have to eat my neighbours!

Cheers!

As things turned out, I went from being virtually unscathed after the quake to homeless and out of work overnight as a neighbouring historic building was judged to be highly unsafe and in danger of imminent collapse.

The owner has finally signed off on the okay for demolition so I understand this will probably begin "in a day or two" and hopefully business will resume shortly thereafter although there has been a moratorium placed on certain files such as repossessions and debt-related service of documents. Rightly so, nothing would be lower than having to take someone's car after they've lost everything else...

While things could certainly be better, they could have been a hell of a lot worse too. Mind you, tomorrow could be a different story if that building falls the wrong way...
